Today, LA Frog posts about "Santa Monica's Muscle Beach." Well, there must be some confusion. Santa Monica doesn't have a "muscle beach"; Venice does. So, the image being referenced must be either in Venice or not at Muscle Beach.
Note: LA Frog is written by a Parisian transplant to LA, so I guess it could be confusing.
Note after posting: See Eric's comments below. I stand corrected. (To err is human, after all.)
Incorrect. Santa Monica was home to the original Muscle Beach and the area south of the pier pays homage to that today. Though I hate citing Wikipedia, the entry there gives a basic history:

ReplyDeleteIf I ever die or become unable to do this whole blog thing - I'm turning the reigns over to you! Thanks for the clarification.
The coastline is not my general expertise expertise, but I know for sure that Venice (in the City) has a Muscle Beach.
I'll leave this meager post up to allow others to see this City Nerd's humanity, as much as I hate to be wrong.
I've made many a "D'oh" type post. LA's too big for someone to know all of it.
ReplyDeleteI only know the Muscle Beach bit because I used to pretend to be able to do the rings at the Santa Monica one (and by pretend I really mean I would make it a good two or three rings out) and encountered that same question of "Wait, I thought Muscle Beach was Venice?"
